Hello! I, as probably many of you, expected that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be a complete failure. It would seem that there are all the prerequisites for this. Firstly, the new part of the franchise did 4 years. And in the case of Call of Duty – this is more a minus than a plus. After all, as practice shows, a long development is a consequence of a constant change of concept, change of contractors and a hard crash at the last moment in an attempt to at least have something to have time. It is no coincidence that I made a discussion of the plot at the beginning of the review, because I love the Black Ops franchise. Indeed, unlike the pathos and tending into realism Modern Warfare, she was stably seasoned (very large) with a pinch of madness.

The only global problem of the Black OPS series is timlics. Because the Cold War published in 2020 and is essentially a fifth part, canceled all the events after the end of the first, becoming, in fact, the continuation of the original. It would be logical to assume that the financial successes of the project will force Activision bosses to abandon new experiments and focus on the development of characters from this part. But the company’s management is this: “In general, do not care. Create new heroes ". The scriptwriters answered: "No problem". And now, as they say, follow your hands. The events of Black Ops 6 unfold after Cold War and after Black Ops 2, taking the final as a basis, where Woodson killed Mason. But the only thing that connects us with the previous games of the universe is Woods and Adler.

However, as I already said, in the pop-root militants a normally spelled out story is not particularly needed. The plot of the new part stands on the classic weapons of mass destruction for Call of Duty Pillars, traitors in the CIA leadership and the mysterious organization Pantheon, which wants to destroy the world. To prevent this, Frank Woods collects young operatives loyal to him and begins his investigation. Actually, for one of these agents we have to play.

Several times a game will be reminded of the events of the previous parts, so that you will let the mean gender-neutral tear in memory of past days. Why gender-neutral? Oh yes – a storyline. Is it here? Yes. The commander of the detachment we have a black man, a killer girl helps us, preferring men’s clothes and a short haircut in everyday life, and one of the few white men-here is a disabled person. By the way, it’s funny, our friend in many missions transforms into some sex bomb. I don’t even know what the developers wanted to say. Some kind of objectification of women is obtained.

But the paradox is that in the course of passage you do not pay attention to it at all. The head of the detachment is dark -skinned? Yes, and do not care. On the mission, we are accompanied by a beautiful girl? Yes, I’m only for!

How to relate to such a variety, I honestly don’t know. On the one hand, all these characters were obviously added because otherwise the press would defeat the novelty. On the other hand, the developers managed to enter them into history as organically as possible. Yes, and in the whole campaign, I cannot recall a single case when some character deliberately emphasized his differences from others. Write in the comments what you think about it. I will be interested.

But I didn’t like the final of history. This is a strong middle peasant, in the spirit of classic espionage militants, but it is absolutely predictable. The developers open the cards long before the end of the story, and you can guess about the true motives of some characters before. And, like a fan of the Black Ops series, I can’t accept it. I remember how fucked up, having learned about the death of Viktor Reznov, about Mason’s fate, even Bell’s story was full of surprises. And here … Yes, pompous, yes, beautiful, but too straightforward.

I almost forgot to tell about cranberries. Although she is not particularly here. And I am pleased that the last part of Black Ops has moved away from the cliche “a priori of bad Russians”, which cannot be said about Modern Warfare. Sometimes a feeling is created that young developers came to Raven Software, who are not shy about triumphing their older kalg. In one mission, Woods states that Russians are behind everything. To which they answer him, that the Cold War actually ended for a long time, and he should put his opinion far away.

Gameplay

For which they scold each part of Call of Duty? For the fact that this is a thoughtless shooting range, where we are exterminated hundreds of stupid blanks who are not able to normally coordinate on the battlefield and climb under our bullets. When I started the passage of the campaign, I immediately wrote to myself that Black Ops 6 claims the title of worst Call of Duty over the past few years. The first mission is a shooting range in the worst performance. First, I and the detachment had to break through from point “a” to point “b”, and then again with battles from point “b” to point “a”. In fairness, I must note that there were no more such corridor locations in the game, but cheap attempts to stretch the gameplay due to the re -passage of the same places several times.

But you know, these are all the disadvantages of the gameplay. It’s hard to believe, but Black Ops 6 is an example of how modern plot shooters should be played. Let’s go about everything in order:

Types of tasks

For the past few years, the developers of Call of Duty, apparently having seen enough of the successes of Battlefield, are actively experimenting with gameplay. The new part was no exception. Almost every task brings new opportunities. For example, in one of the missions we have to penetrate the secular reception under the guise of a journalist, get a picture of the retina of the senator’s eye. You can do this in several ways. Then we need to get to the bunker, where they keep our goal. If desired, almost the entire segment can be passed without releasing a single bullet. Then you have to shoot a little, breaking through to the evacuation point, and after that, escape from the pursuers on the motorcycle.

In addition, many tasks suggest alternative ways to achieve the goal. For example, after eliminating the criminal from a sniper rifle, I did not break through the army of mercenaries, but scraped the Ezio to the audience, jumping from the tower into the water and swimming through the channels.

This is not enough for you? Large open locations were also brought to the game, where you, together with your partners, move from one point to another, performing various mini-scabs. Yes, I do not argue, to one degree or another, all this was already found in the previous parts. But here, as if, the perfect balance is withstanded. You have not yet had time to get bored in shootings, and you are already allowed to manage the radio -controlled machine. Do not want to pick up a weapon at all? Okay, you can be a detective and find out what secrets the general hub hides.

Yes, I almost forgot, we go to tasks from the secret base of our detachment, which is located somewhere in Bulgaria. For research, a house is available to you, as well as a small area around it. There are quite a lot of interesting places there, but what secrets do the caches keep, I will not spoil. In addition, between the tasks you can chat with partners and find out the current news from them. Someone will be tuned for a long conversation, and someone will drop only a couple of phrases and continue to do their own business.

Also in this hub you can build various objects – shooting range, workshop and a number of others. This will allow you to pump the character skills. True, to create you will have to collect money for locations. And there are not that a lot of them. If you want a real jaggernaut, then get ready to go through the campaign a couple of times. But at the same time, I can’t say that without pumping you will be constantly killing you. Nevertheless, a similar approach from the studio looks much more organic than the tree of skills in most other games.

Personally, I do not remember when the last time someone had complaints about weapons in the Call of Duty series. There are more than enough guns. At the same time, there are both fairly common samples, like M4 or AK 74, and very rare, like AS VAL, which before that I saw only in the trilogy s.T.A.L.K.E.R. Weapon weight is well felt. With large sniper rifles, the movement of the protagonist becomes more inert.

And in general, the character behaves like a real fighter of a special unit. For example, he is pressed to shelters. In addition, our hero was taught to different chips, such as tackles in all directions and jumps in slow time (yes, just like in Max Payne). Called the new OMNIMOVEMENT chip and … I hardly used it. Thanks to the developers that they tried to diversify the gameplay, but she did not bring any serious innovations. Yes, and to tell the truth, I would not even know about the existence of the chip if I had not read the reviews.

The game remained in the game and an effective close battle when your character is beautifully cutting off or kills an opponent. But the new option was living shields. But, in truth, in the whole campaign, I took advantage of this technique from force a couple of times. Firstly, you will be sent to a control point faster than you get to the enemy. Secondly, during a shootout, the health of a living shield will drop to 0 in a couple of seconds. As they say, the game is not worth the candle.

We also brought us various grenades, explosives, throwing knives and much more. And what is most interesting, all this really needs during tasks. Where you will not even find resistance on a light difficulty, then on high you are pushed with lead as soon as you lean out due to a shelter. The only option is to use equipment. As the ancient army joke says – first a grenade enters the house, and only then you.

There are too many different “tanks” in the game, in which you need to plant more than one clip or spend special equipment.

And finally, a little advice. Try to play PS5 or purchase DualSense for PC. "Kolda" is the very game where the capabilities of the gamepad from Sony are fully revealed.

Graphics and environment

Since 2018, after the transition to the new engine, the graphics in Call of Duty has reached a completely new level. And Black OPS 6 does not disappoint in this regard: realistic shadows, the play of sunlight and a detailed environment create an atmosphere of complete immersion.

Civil NPCs also work on it, which run along the location if the shootout goes somewhere in public places. It looks cool! But it is very annoying me that they constantly appear in the crosshairs of the sight. And one random shot even in hand sends you to checkpoint.

On this, the developers from Raven Software did not stop and added an abundance of content to the "peaceful" segments of the game. Now the characters are actively interacting with each other – you can hear dozens of unique remarks that make you believe in the reality of what is happening.

Unfortunately, there were no minuses. I do not understand why the garbage can be hit on the same location, and a bottle will fly out of it, and literally after 100 meters to release the line from the machine gun on the hood of the car, and it will absolutely do not care. And this is found everywhere. Some cars are broken, others do not. Somewhere you can destroy the environment, somewhere you can’t. But now at least bullets leave traces on the bodies of opponents. Conclusions about the plot campaign

Before proceeding to the assessment of the campaign, let’s recall what I talked about above. The plot does not shine with originality, but at the same time it will be interesting to both newcomers and the veterans of the series. The shooting is magnificent, the locations are beautiful, the variety of gameplay is in place, some kind of interactivity is also present. For me confident 7.5 points and 10, if you consider this game as a shooter for a couple of evenings. However, it is impossible to consider it otherwise and cannot.

Multiplayer and zombies

The multiplayer mode in Black Ops 6 is practically no different from the multiplayer mode in the previous parts. Treyarch did not break what works. Everything is recognizable here: fast pace, dynamic contractions, death every 30 seconds.

Although in fact there are still insignificant differences. After Modern Warfare III, some cards feels a little more complicated – more turns, more shelters. However, the design as a whole remained the same. These are the classic medium locations of the arena, where you constantly risk getting a bullet into the back of the head from the newly cleaned room. There are only 16 cards, but promise to add in the future.

What I personally liked – more emphasis on vertical gameplay. But again, it all depends on your preferences. If you like the hurricane pace, then the multi -layer of the location will add more tactical spaciousness. If you prefer measured gameplay, then it is better to immediately go to Battlefield. You won’t get it here.

The OMNIMOVEMENT system, which I mentioned in the campaign review, is also available in network mode. Some of the foreign journalists wrote that thanks to her, the dynamics of the battle is noticeably changing. I played several dozen matches and I do not quite agree with this. Sometimes you can see how someone jumps beautifully from the top floor. But to say that this greatly affects the gameplay, I can’t.

Also works (although it will not work correctly) mechanics of living shields. Because due to the limited size of cards, everyone is trying to run around them at maximum speed and constantly twist their heads. Therefore, seeing the opponent’s back, it is much easier to release in it than to try to quietly sneak up. Although this is a great way to punish campers!

I won’t tell you about the modes. But all the main ones are on the spot – capture of the flag, team battle, target protection and so on. The weapon was a little redesigned. There are fewer trunks, but now each rifle is felt differently. But the pumping of the weapon has not changed from the word at all. This is the same designer where we hang a bunch of body kit on a gun. But I can’t say that with a machine gun of the last level you will dominate the battlefield. Skill decides everything.

Let’s summarize. If you are a fan of the series, then in the new Black OPS you will find everything you love so much. This is the same multiplayer that you are used to seeing – fast, bright, without unnecessary complications, but with point improvements. However, if you are more than 15 years old, then Call of Duty is unlikely to captivate you for a long time. Although, I must say that sometimes I want to go a couple of hours.

About the zombie-mode, to be honest, I have nothing to tell me. I played quite a bit of it, so I do not consider it necessary to share some opinion. In a good way, you need to play a company of several friends in it. This is the only way to solve the puzzles and the endless shooting of the undead begins to become funny.

I played alone. And at some point I just felt bored. I closed the zombie mode and went to recall the campaign.
